Queenstown Experiences

Queenstown is affectionately known as the adrenaline capital of the country, if not the world. From bungee jumping off the Kawarau Bridge, to rafting the white-knuckle rapids of the Shotover river, if you’re looking to kick your heart rate up a gear, you’ll find something to excite you in Queenstown.

Boating and Floating

You know you’re dealing in extreme activities when paragliding and jet boating are your ‘tame’ options.

Still, both options will give you a whole new appreciation for the beauty of the area and soaring down through the sky amongst such stunning views is definitely peaceful in its own way.

Alternatively, you could take The Skyline Gondola ride to the tip of Bob’s Peak, slowly gliding your way through stunning views of the Remarkable Mountains (and never was a range so well named!)

Being Queenstown, of course another adventure park awaits you up here too. The usual suspects all feature but, if you’re bored of bungee, this one has a luge track for an even more unconventional rush.

And, when your heart is racing, your blood pounding and your nerves are at their limits, you can pause for a delicious meal in the Skyline restaurant and have your breath taken away by beauty for a change.

Tours of Queenstown Gardens

If thrills and spills really  aren’t your kind of thing, then head on over to Queenstown Gardens.

Perched on a peninsula on the shoreline of Lake Wakitipu, these beautiful, tranquil gardens are the perfect place while away a quiet afternoon. There are pristine lawns, roaming shrubbery and trees, and a splash of colour in the rose garden.

Pack a picnic, take a leisurely stroll and let your head catch up with your heart. You won’t find anywhere more peaceful and pretty in Queenstown.

Another option for those who choose a more sedate pace, is a cruise on the TSS Earnslaw. A steam cruise with a hundred-year legacy, this is a much steadier, scenic excursion which comes with plenty of extra opportunities for fun. There’s visits to the engine rooms, or the onboard mini-museum, or you can combine it with a tour of the Walter Peak High Country Farm. This can come with a guided farm tour, a BBQ lunch and even a horse trek. Because, of course, in Queenstown, nothing comes without the opportunity for speed, excitement and a spike of adrenaline.
