You may have noticed that the Taiaroa Head Royal Albatrosses located on the Otago Peninsula, South Island, have been gathering some press coverage in the UK with the Guardian quoting a figure of 2.3 million people from 190 countries tuning into Youtube videos of the endangered birds rearing their chicks.

Royal Albatross New Zealand Cam

A Royal Cam has captured the birds arriving at their nests at night – and so you don’t miss out on all the action – we have included a video of some of the most recent albatross live streams.

If you would like to continue to follow the birds’ progress, you will need to tune into the albatross New Zealand live cam at: www.doc.govt.nz/royalcam

Where Can I See Albatross in New Zealand?

Of course, the best way to see these rare birds is to make a personal visit to the Royal Albatross Centre. This conservation centre is located a 40 minute drive from Dunedin.  Let us help you plan your albatross viewing on a tailor-made holiday with Silver Fern Holidays.  The visit can be part of a self-drive holiday, or you can leave your car at your accommodation and take a tour out to the centre.  Call us on 01636 813544 for more details.
