Following its busiest season to date, Hollyford Track is launching a new 2 day hiking product for 2014-15.

The new ‘Ocean to Alps’ guided walk is a 25 km (15.5 mile) trek though some of the most spectacular scenery that New Zealand’s rugged Fiordland region has to offer.

Your 2 day hiking experience begins with a scenic helicopter flight over the beautiful Milford Sound, and along the Fiordland coast to Martins Bay. After enjoying lunch in a safari style tent, your first day’s guided costal walk takes you past a bay of boulders where the rare Fiordland Crested Penguin is a seasonal visitor, and on to Long Reef which is home to native New Zealand Fur Seals. You’ll then return, via jet boat, to Martins Bay for overnight accommodation in a comfortable, fully-catered private wilderness lodge.

hollyford-track6Day two begins with a hearty breakfast. You’ll then re-board your jet boat for a scenic ride up Lake McKerrow to the Hollyford River, and on to the Pyke River confluence. Here your walk continues, heading up the Hollyford Valley. Over Little Homer Saddle you’ll make a brief stop at Hidden Falls. Then, after lunch, you’ll retrace the footsteps of early pioneer explorers, as the track takes you through native beech forest and beside tumbling waterfalls, and finally on to the Hollyford Road End.

Throughout your time on the Holyford Track, your experienced guides will help bring the surrounding forest, coastal areas, and the personalities of the track to life.

The 2 day ‘Ocean to Alps’ guided walk can be booked as part of your New Zealand self-drive holiday or walking holiday.
