Wanaka River Journeys

Brent and Sue Pihama run a small jet boating business amongst the spectacular scenery of World Heritage Mount Aspiring National Park. Unlike their counterparts in Queenstown, this is not just a thrills and spills trip but a journey into the heartland of Mount Aspiring National Park past towering mountains, waterfalls and Lord of The Rings film locations on the pristine, glacier fed waters of the Matukituki River.

This is a real family business with Sue or her daughter Reina , picking you up from your accommodation and transporting you to the Matukituki River where Brent takes over and boards you onto the boat.

He’ll give you a safety briefing, fit you with life jackets and then you’re away on the most amazing, exhilarating jet boat ride, punctuated by hair raising stops when Brent spins the boat around. He’ll tell you stories and anecdotes of life and times in this area and take you for a short walk through ancient beech forest to a nearby waterfall . Its then back to base and time to catch your breath with lunch or tea in Wanaka.
