Queen Charlotte Track

&nThe 71 km Queen Charlotte Track is a four day walk, but you can enjoy some of the best bits of the walk on a half or full day walk using the Cougar boat transfer services.

The 8.00 a.m. boat from Picton wharf will take you to Ship Cove, Captain Cook’s favourite bay in New Zealand and from there you can walk the 14.5km to Furneaux  Lodge  for afternoon tea on the verandah, before catching the return boat to Picton .

At Ship Cove, there are a series of Information boards detailing Cook’s exploits in the area

Alternatively, take the 8 or 10 am boat to Resolution Bay for an easier 10.5 km walk to the lodge.

Both walks take you through virgin bush and offer spectacular views from the ridgeline. The walk from Resolution Bay to Furneaux Lodge is excellent for photographs since there are more gaps through the trees than on the other sections. The return pick up time from Furneaux Lodge is 4 pm with arrival back at Picton 4.30 pm

You do require good walking shoes or boots to undertake this walk and you should take water and lunch in your daypack.
