Breakers B&B
Set right on the beachfront, Breakers is a boutique Bed & Breakfast run by kiwis Jan and Stephen and their two dogs, Nico and Ziggy.
Jan and Stephen are wonderful hosts and incredibly passionate about their little corner of the West Coast. They love sharing stories with their guests, and their love of the outdoors ensures they have lots of knowledge and experience of local activities that they can pass on. They even have their own blog with their adventures on which you can read here.
Breakers has its own private track to take you down to a stretch of sand known as Nine Mile Beach, secluded and peaceful it’s a great place to look out for Greenstone (or Pounamu as Maoris call it) that has washed up from the sea.
The beach is also a nesting area for Little Blue Penguins (they’re very shy though so you will have to be lucky to spot one) and Jan and Stephen donate 50 cents from each booking to the West Coast Little Blue Penguin Trust.
The accommodation comprises four guest rooms, each warm and inviting with ensuite bathrooms and outdoor balcony access. The beachfront location affords wonderful views of the Tasman sea to the front and the Paparoa mountain range behind, and the landscaped gardens offer plenty of seating fro guests to relax, sit back and enjoy the scenery from.
