Glendaruel B&B

Nestled between Halfmoon Bay and Golden Bay, Glendaruel B&B  is bordered on two sides by uninterrupted vistas of native forest that are often alive with the sounds of native birdsong.

After holidaying here for many years, owner Raylene Waddell moved to Stewart Island and opened her B&B in 2000 to provide a homely and comfortable base for travellers to explore the areas natural beauty, abundant birdlife, pristine waters and golden beaches. She’s always happy to come and meet guests on their arrival at the Ferry terminal and share stories of island life.

The house’s three guest rooms (one queen, one king/twin, and one single) each have en suite bathrooms and are peaceful and private, taking in the views of Raylene’s beautiful gardens which have featured in several  magazines and books.

What our travellers love about staying here…

  • Feeding Kaka (a native New Zealand parrot) by hand from one of the balcony’s
  • Raylenes infectious passion for Stewart Island and enjoying her help in planning how to spend your time on the island
  • Lying in bed and night and listening to the call of the kiwi and the Morepork Owl.
