Beaumont Station

Beaumont High Country Station is just an hour away from Invercargill, but a world away from the hustle and bustle of city life. Owner Struan, a third generation farmer has a wealth of knowledge about farming practices in New Zealand, and there’s nothing he can’t tell you about his sheep and Hereford cattle. His wife Lynn likes to run the back office, while their daughter Lenore breeds her own horses on the station.

The guest cottage is set amongst landscaped gardens adjacent to the Minty homestead and is comfortably furnished and sympathetic to the surroundings.

Your stay can include a four wheel drive excursion, or a horse riding trip anywhere from a couple of hours to a full week for both experienced and new riders, guided by one of the family members. Participate in a real Kiwi sheep muster, or simply take in the beauty of the Southland Plains for a truly unique story to tell the folks back home.

What our travellers love about staying here…

  • Having a soak in the guest hot tub or sauna, perfect soothing aching muscles after a day exploring the farm.
  • Splashing out on an exclusive champagne breakfast high up at historic Flecks Hut, nestled amidst Beaumont Station backcountry and enjoying a glass of fizz overlooking the stunning Takitimu Mountain range.
  • Experiencing ‘real ‘New Zealand from horseback and being part of the ‘heartland’ of the country for a few days.
