Mohua Park

Mohua Park in the Catlins has long been a mainstay on this little-travelled route but is having new life breathed into it by hosts Lyndon and Gill, who have indulged their passion for the outdoors over a lifetime of South Island beauty spots, and have now settled in their childhood playground of the Catlins.

The bush-lined driveway is an excellent welcome to the property, and if you’d like to explore further, there are self-guided walking trails snaking the grounds. The eco cottages here have recently been redecorated with new art work, designer-influenced furniture and gorgeous bed linen and are now not only supremely comfortable, but also sensitive to their surroundings, as well as offering privacy and fabulous views.

Choose to dine on locally-sourced food in the main homestead when booked in advance, or collect your own supplies en route to self-cater in the well-equipped kitchenettes.

What our travellers love about staying here…

  • Discovering Gill and Lyndon’s favourite local haunts that they’ve been visiting since they were kids
  • Sitting on the peaceful deck of their cottage listening to the birdsong and gazing out at the rolling hills and farmland
  • Taking a guided wildlife tour of the area, encompassing birds, seals, and plenty of waterfalls!
