Catlins Farmstay

Catlins Farmstay B&B is set on a seven acre plot only ten minutes from the rare Petrified Forest at Curio Bay, a couple of hours south of Dunedin. This is not your average farmstay, and you’ll find all you’d expect from a quality B&B with comfortable beds, your own personal entrance and great views from your room.

Jaclyn, Warren and their young family enjoy showing visitors around their home and giving them a flavour of farming New Zealand-style. Ask if you can help feed the animals, or hike to the highest points of the farm for views right down the coast.

The property is only a short drive to all of the attractions the Catlins (one of the least-visited regions in New Zealand) has to offer, from Cathedral Caves to the many local waterfalls and bush walks, and the Southernmost point of the South Island, Slope Point, is less than 30 minutes away.

What our travellers love about staying here…

  • The opportunity to fish for trout on the Waikawa river, which runs right through the B&B’s grounds.
  • Learning more about the region at the nearby Tumu Toka Curio Scape museum and attempting to spot the rare hoiho (yellow eyed penguin) who are occasional visitors to the area.
  • Jaclyn’s breakfast baking!
