Taieri Gorge Railway

No visit to Dunedin is complete without a trip on the Taieri Gorge Railway that departs daily from Dunedin city centre, and journeys into the Taieri Gorge, taking in some fantastic scenery that you won’t see from the road!

There are several spots where the trin either slows down, or completely stops, allowing you to disembark and snap away with your camera to capture the ever changing landscapes.

There is also a licensed café and bar on board and live commentary on all the trips so you’ll learn all about the history of the railway as you navigate the narrow and exhilarating river gorge.

It’s one of the few trips that’s just as spectacular ion a rainy day, as the river and the tributary streams really come alive when the rain is pouring down!
