What's Included
Itinerary Highlights
Explore the very best walks on the Isle of Arran with the choice of up to four different guided walks each day.
Half-Day Walks: A mix of coastal and forest walks includes exploring the lovely village of Lamlash, crossing the Clauchland Hills with their panoramic views or taking in the wonderful Glenashdale waterfalls near Whiting Bay. A highlight is walking back to Brodick via the splendid Brodick Castle and its country park, at the foot of Goatfell. The walks will finish after a picnic lunch for an early afternoon return to Altachorvie.
Easier Walks: The island’s beautiful coastline is the focus for a number of the easier walks which may take us from Sannox Bay to Lochranza or to King’s Cave and the mysterious standing stones of Machrie Moor. We can also follow Glen Rosa, a huge glacial valley that drives into the heart of Arran’s highest mountains, allowing walkers of all abilities to admire this dramatic landscape at close quarters.
Medium Walks: The full range of the island’s scenery can be enjoyed on these walks. We’ll experience beautiful stretches of coastline and head to some of the island’s more easily-reached mountain summits. A walk to the top of Goatfell, the highest point of the island, is achievable by many walkers and a great culmination to any holiday.
Harder Walks: Arran is a first-rate destination for the keen mountain walker, with a number of challenging routes and some rocky scrambles close to hand. The granite ridges that dominate the north of the island rise to dramatic summits, such as Caisteal Abhail (the Castles), Beinn Tarsuinn, Cir Mhor and Beinn Bharrain, that are a match for anything mainland Scotland has to offer.
This holiday, which is operated in association with Holiday Fellowship, can be combined with any of our other UK itineraries and / or linked to a city break in London or Edinburgh. The nearest airport entry points are Edinburgh or Glasgow.
