What's Included
Itinerary Highlights
Discover the picturesque valleys, villages and hills of the Yorkshire Dales with the choice of two different guided walks each day.
Half-Day Walks: We include many highlights of the Yorkshire Dales: take a stroll to Malham Cove, enjoy rambling in Ribblesdale or wander beside the River Wharfe to the traditional village of Grassington. We have plenty of time to soak up the landscape, finishing after a picnic lunch and returning to Newfield Hall in the early afternoon.
Easier Walks: From Newfield Hall walk beside the River Aire to the traditional villages of Airton, Kirkby Malham and Malham; just one of the attractive dales that can be enjoyed. Elsewhere we visit the charming cobbled villages of Linton and Grassington as we walk through picturesque Wharfedale, or follow the river through the narrow confines of The Strid to the historic ruined priory at Bolton Abbey.
Medium Walks: Classic walks from Malham village include Janet’s Foss waterfall, the limestone pavements around Malham Tarn and, of course, the sheer cliffs of the famous Cove. Other walks could traverse the limestone crags of Ribblesdale, explore Wharfedale, and head to the immense pot hole of Gaping Gill on the slopes of Ingleborough.
Harder Walks: The harder walks aim for the higher fells of the Yorkshire Dales, including Pen y ghent and Ingleborough, two of the famous ‘three peaks’. We can also ascend to the twin summits of Great Whernside and Buckden Pike, admire views across the national park from the open moors of Simon’s Seat, or enjoy dramatic walks to scramble up the rocky gorge of Gordale Scar.
This holiday, which is operated in association with Holiday Fellowship, can be combined with any of our other UK itineraries and / or linked to a city break in London or Edinburgh. The nearest airport entry point is Manchester.
