Combining visits to China's main historic sites - the Great Wall, imperial Beijing and the incredible Terracotta Army in Xian - with a selection of walks amidst the stunning limestone peaks of Guilin and the Yangshuo countryside, and city sightseeing in Hong Kong, this holiday offers a memorable insight into both ancient and modern China.

Itinerary Highlights

 Beijing (4 nights)

  • Visit Tiananmen Square, the Forbidden City and Jingshan Park
  • Walk around Kunming Lake to the Summer Palace
  • Travel to the lesser-known Jinshanling area of the Great Wall for an exhilarating walk on this historic site 

Xian (2 nights)

  • Visit the Ancient City walls and Big Goose Pagoda
  • See the vast burial place of the Terracotta Army - 7,000 individually crafted life-sized figures, complete with chariots and horses

Guilin (2 nights)

  • Explore the beautiful landscape and local markets
  • Drive into the Longji Mountains to enjoy walks beside tea gardens and rice terraces to Ping'an village.

 Yangshuo (2 nights)

  • Cruise along the Li River
  • Walk through the countryside to a mountain retreat
  • Explore delightful unspoilt landscapes on a walk to Jiuwu village

 Guilin (1 night)  

  • Walk on Mt Yao

Hong Kong (2 nights)

  • Enjoy a full day excursion to Lamma Island
  • Free day for sightseeing, with options to cross on the famous Star Ferry to Kowloon or take a trip to Victoria Peak
