Starting high in the Hohe Tauern National Park, freewheel through some of Europe's most beautiful and awe-inspiring scenery: a wonderful route down the mountains with a constant backdrop of rugged snow-capped peaks. Travel past rolling Alpine meadows bright with flowers, pine forests, steep valleys and dramatic gorges, along the shores of lakes and crystal clear rivers.

Experience Europe's highest waterfalls, the Krimml Falls, plunging some 1250' in three tremendous cascades, the still waters of Europe's highest reservoirs and the snowy peaks of Grossglockner, Austria's highest mountain: as well as wooden houses in picture-book hamlets clustering around pointed church steeples, ancient towns and hospitable wayside inns and coffee-houses: an exceptional journey!

Krimml (2 nights)

  • Welcome reception and dinner

  • Four wheel drive to an Alpine Hut just past the Upper Falls

Hollersbach-in-Pinzgau (1 night)

  • Cycle downhill along forest tracks and between alpine meadows
  • Koffee and kuchen on the terrace of a gasthof herb garden
  • Swim in outstanding outdoor pools

 Kaprun (2 nights)

  • Stop off at Niedersill for tea and homemade cakes
  • View ice formations at Werfen Fortress Ice Caves
  • Optional cable car ride to top of 6000 ft Schmittenhohe, water sports on lake, glaicer ski-ing, paragliding or golf

Maria Alm (1 night)

  • Cycle to Zell-am-See, stopping at the Grand Hotel for morning coffee
  • Easy pedalling along country lanes to Maria Alm
  • Enjoy the indoor pool at the hotel or an inviting outdoor pool in the village

Bad Hochmoos (1 night)

  • Follow the Saalach River past Lichtenberg Castle and through a dramatic valley cut into mountains
  • Visit Lamprecht's Cave
  • Tennis or swimming at the hotel
  • Village concert or local firework display
  • Final celebratory meal at local restaurant

Salzburg

  • Transfer to Salzburg for your homeward flight or option to stay awhile in this beautiful Austrian city
