Apart from breathtaking scenery and 'Sound of Music' views, our guides will introduce you to some of the finest culture and traditions of the Salzkammergut. The lakes are perfect for swimming and relaxation with grassy slopes leading down to clear waters... head off the beaten track to experience idyllic beauty spots such as Sommersbergsee, hidden in a natural mountain setting amongst alpine meadows near Bad Aussee.

St Gilgen (2 nights)

  • Meet your host and receive your bicycle along with comprehensive maps and directions
  • Enjoy a welcome reception and dinner
  • Take a gentle lakeside cycle to the wharf at Reith
  • Take the 'bicycle boat' to the picturesque resort of St. Wolfgang
  • Ride on the steam train to the summit of Schafberg
  • Choose a refreshing swim or maybe a concert in St. Gilgen

Bad Ischl (1 night)

  • Follow the cycle path around Wolfgangsee
  • Pause for a refreshing swim in Strobl Lake
  • Enjoy an exhilarating descent into the imperial city of Bad Ischl
  • Visit the Imperial Villa, summertime home of Emperor Franz Josef
  • Linger over coffee and pastries in Cafe Zauner

Bad Aussee (2 nights)

  • Pedal through shady woodlands alongside the River Traun and the shores of Lake Halstatt
  • At Obersee board the train for a scenic journey through the Koppental Gorge
  • Enjoy the spa pool at your hotel
  • Visit Halstatt, one of Austria's most picturesque villages
  • Share a walk around Lake Altausee with a local guide, with lunch on the lakeshore

Stein (1 night)

  • Freewheel through neat farmlands to the spa town of Bad Mitterndorf
  • Ride through a gorge parallel to the still, green waters of Salzastausee
  • Look forward to home grown organic produce for dinner this evening

Schladming (1 night)

  • Cross the covered bridge at Aich-Assach
  • Experience memorable views of the Dachstein mountains
  • Explore the quaint streets and ancient houses of Schladming
  • Head to a local restaurant for a final celebratory meal

Summer weather can have an almost Mediterranean warmth and dryness. Rain can be heavy and thundery but short-lived.

A charming family hotel just off the main square at St. Gilgen. Pleasant rear garden with seating areas.

Bad Ischl ****

Bad Aussee ****

Centrally located, stylish and traditional, with all the amenities of a modern spa hotel, including an excellent restaurant and leisure facilities. Direct access, via a connecting 'bathrobe corridor' to the spa, swimming pool, sauna, steambath and therapy centre.

Stein **

A simple country hotel set in the beautiful countryside of the Enns Valley.

Schladming ****

On a quiet road five minutes from the town centre, this comfortable hotel offers fine views of the Dachstein Mountains.
