Itinerary Highlights

Hobart (3 nights)

  • See the sights of Hobart including the Royal Tasmanian Botanical Gardens and Battery Point, the delightfully preserved colonial district
  • Enjoy a range of walking options in Mount Wellington Park
  • Take a boat trip along the stunning and rugged coastline of southern Bruny including exhilarating moments racing closely alongside steep cliffs as well as a peaceful observation of a seal colony

Tarraleah (1 night)

  • Experience a full day walk in the magnificent wilderness of Mount Field National Park
  • See the glacier-sculpted Tarn Shelf

 

Strahan (2 nights)

  • Take in the fresh alpine air along the shores of Australia’s deepest lake, Lake St. Clair
  • See the lunar landscape of Queenstown, a settlement where the hills were once denuded by the effects of copper mining
  • Cruise across Macquarie Harbour to the tranquil reaches of the Gordon River
  • Visit Sarah Island, the site of Tasmania’s most remote and notorious convict settlement
  • Enjoy a walk and the sunset at the wild and stormy Ocean Beach.

 

Cradle Mountain (2 nights)

  • Walk to the spectacular Montezuma Falls
  • Visit Waldheim Chalet and hear about the Park’s conservation history
  • Choose from a range of walk options in the Cradle Mountain area
  • Take a tour of the Devils at Cradle facility for your first sighting of a Tasmanian Devil

 Hawley Beach (1 night)

  • Visit the Tiagarra Aboriginal Museum in Devonport to find out more about Tasmania’s original inhabitants
  • Enjoy a beautiful beach walk and Tasmanian gourmet picnic in Narawntapu National Park 
  • Follow the trails of the many Tasmanian wild animals that come out at dusk including kangaroos, pademelons, wallabies and wombats

St. Helen's (1 night)

  • Travel through the pretty winegrowing area of northern Tasmania
  • See the beautiful St. Columba Falls

Bicheno (2 nights)

  • Walk along the magnificent coast at Binalong Bay
  • View penguins in the wild
  • Explore the Freycinet National Park, a ‘bushwalkers' paradise'
  • Enjoy the stunning view over Wineglass Bay (one of the best ten beaches in the world)


Port Arthur (1 night)

  • Visit the Tasman Peninsula and Port Arthur Historic Site – the remains of Tasmania’s famous convict settlement
  • Take a tour around the Isle of the Dead, resting place for some two thousand convicts, guards and citizens who died during the early settlement of Port Arthur
  • Continue to Remarkable Cave for a short walk and also explore some of the fascinating local rock formations along the coast near Eaglehawk Neck

Hobart (1 night)

  • Experience a full day walk through the stunning coastal scenery of the Tasman National Park

 

 

 

Hotel Information

GENERAL: We use good quality properties throughout the trip, some of distinctive character and with unique features. Bedrooms are typically furnished with twin beds and facilities routinely include: air conditioning, TV, drying rooms, washing machine and full ensuite bathroom.

HOBART: Located just minutes from all local attractions, the Leisure Inn Hobart Macquarie is quiet, comfortable, convenient and very welcoming. It is a leisurely stroll to famous Battery Point, Salamanca Place and Hobart's waterfront.

TARRALEAH: Scholars House on the Tarraleah Estate Scholars House was the original Tarraleah School and now offers accommodation comprising contemporary en-suite studio rooms with loft bedrooms. Facilities within the original school building include a fully equipped Chef’s kitchen, dining room, cosy lounge with wood heater, laundry and internet room.

STRAHAN: With a setting right on the waterfront, Strahan Village's 4 star individual cottages and terraces take you back to a time when the wild West Coast was inhabited by miners, fishermen and their families. Fitted out with a variety of room types, the cottages recall an old-world charm with every modern facility.

CRADLE MOUNTAIN: The Cradle Mountain Chateau offers hotel style rooms under one roof, split into two wings. It is situated in alpine woodland at the northern end of Cradle Mountain - Lake St. Clair National Park.

HAWLEY BEACH: Hawley House has been the Houghton family's home for three generations. It features a Vineyard Pavilion, rooftop bath, stables, peacock lawns, water gardens, sandy beaches and the Narawntapu National Park beyond. The 150 hectare Hawley estate sustains a substantial vineyard and an extensive and comprehensive wildlife reserve. Guests are accommodated in a wide range of spacious and individually appointed rooms, all with en-suite bathrooms and breathtaking views, eclectic original artworks and furnishings.

ST. HELEN’S: Tidal Waters Resort St Helens is just 15 minutes away from the Bay of Fires. The resort features elegant guest rooms on two floors, each with ensuite bathroom and private balcony highlighting wonderful garden or water views.

BICHENO: Diamond Island Resort is in the east coast fishing village of Bicheno and overlooks the island for which it is named. You can wander for two minutes from your room to the beach.

PORT ARTHUR: The Comfort Inn is situated next to the Port Arthur historic site. Amenities include afternoon tea service, game room with billiard tables and picnic area.
